Hate speech is an intensely controversial topic. I am firmly of the opinion that hate speech should not be further formalised into legislation without a significant amount of public debate. A nation-wide referendum at the very least. There needs to be a great deal of transparency around the process. That is our Democratic right.

RA vs Folau – a ground breaking media circus gone mad
For a couple of months now I've been enjoying a lively debate about the Israel Folau versus Rugby Australia slow motion ‘train crash’ that has been unfolding via the media. I expressed the opinion to friends that I suspected that Israel Folau had made himself into something of a crusading martyr for his Church/congregation. Recent events seem to strongly support that idea.
